Neal Van Zutphen

Neal is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM practitioner, as well as a Certified Financial Behavior Specialist^® and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. He began his financial services career in 1983, and is the majority owner and President of Intrinsic Wealth Counsel, Inc. His main focus is working with clients to co-create financial life plans, and IWC’s creative and collaborative team.

 Neal is past President and Chairman of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Phoenix. In 2010, the FPA of Greater Phoenix Board of Directors nominated Neal for the Heart of Financial Planning Award. His research was published in the Journal of Financial Planning and he has spoken at national financial planning conferences. His most recent contribution to the profession comes by way of co-authoring Chapter Two of the CFP Board’s textbook, Psychology of Financial Planning (2022). He holds a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning, and a certificate in financial therapy.

 Neal is a life-long learner, and continues to pursue research in the efficacy of financial planning and the relationship couples and individuals have with money.  He is happily married, has three children and five grandchildren, and enjoys hiking, golf, reading and research.
